Hey guys,
I am doing my project on e-commerce and how it has changed, is changing, and could change our lives. Here is a good introductory video on e-commerce, with discussion about the history and future of e-commerce. Enjoy!
Also, here is the breakdown of my thesis for the final paper (questions I will answer through research / interviews):
1) How did commerce actually begin, and how has the Internet revolutionized it? 2) How has commerce changed, in terms of statistics, after the emergence of the 1990s Internet? 3) What are the major types of E-commerce, and how do they compare? 4) What are some reasons for people NOT using the Internet for commerce? 5) How will businesses, laws, and lifestyles change in the future with the Internet facilitating commerce? 6) How can E-commerce safety & security be enhanced in the future?
If you have any suggestions on good sources to answer some of these questions / or any additional questions to add to this thesis, please let me know! I would highly appreciate it! - Dmitri
Hey Everyone,
I am doing my project on law enforcement and how technology has changed it. I am hoping to learn about the computers in the patrol cars, face recognition software, fingerprint matching, the central criminal database, and anything else that I find while researching. I want to learn how things used to be and compared to how things are now. Since this class is also focused on ethics I hope to find some ethical issues involved with the above technologies. I am open to ideas and suggestions and of course sources. I appreciate any help I can get.
Hola Muchachos,
I know you are all dying to know what I am doing for my project so I thought I would drop in and let you all know. I will be doing my project on how sports writers are able to give updates while the game is actually being played. I will look at how reporting has evolved over the years, as well as take a look at how they are able to give users real time video feeds to their computers and cell phones. If you would like to know more please feel free to look it up yourself. I am totally joking of course, but seriously, you should check it out it's really cool.
Ok the title might not be true, but I needed a way to get your attention. I'm Matt Smith and I grew up In Palmdale, CA. In case you don't know where that is Afroman is also from there and we hang out on the regular (I'm sure that didn't really help but that's ok). I was a swimmer for 11 years until I realized I didn't know how to swim. Joking again of course, but I tried to swim for U of A and was told to drop 3 seconds but decided I wasn't inspired enough. I just accepted a job at C.H. Robinson so I get to stay in this town for another few years! Woo hoo!
Hey Everyone,
As the title clearly states, my project is essentially on how the ability to go online has changed console gaming. This is not only considering gameplay online, but all of the additional features and products that have come along as well. For example, XBox Marketplace has generated billions of dollars with game add-ons, movies, games and more. Single releases, such as Call of Duty 4: Map Pack 1, have brought in over $10 million in less than ten days. Of course, the ability to simply play games online, against hundreds of thousands of people, has had a huge effect as well. It not only has opened up a whole new genres of games, where single player mode is no longer the main focus, but also a need for protection for children as anyone can say anything online.
Only online gamers will get this picture…
Thats nuts that they brought in over $10 million for just one map pack. I wonder how much they brought in from the CoD:5 map pack.
I'm doing my project on Fantasy Sports and the fight over data licensing. The MLBPA and NFLPA both are fighting against companies who are profiting from using player data on their sites. They are doing this because they want a chunk of the $1.5 Billion market size of the fantasy sports industry. The companies argue that this is public data and that the players associations don't have the sole rights to that data. I'm going to look at both the growth of the industry and the new businesses that have grown from fantasy sports, as well as this debate over who owns the player data.
Professor Weisband,
I am almost done with my paper, and would like to present my topic (E-Commerce) this coming Tuesday (4/28/2009).
